JOB ROLE: SENIOR MEDICAL BILLING SPECIALIST!
In need of a talented and committed Senior Medical Billing Specialist to join an administrative office team in Anchorage.
This role is responsible for creating and filing insurance claims and reviewing and revising accounts to ensure the invoicing of claims is exact and complete.
Associate degree necessary in the business, finance, or comparable profession. Work experience with increasing levels of responsibility in a relevant field may be substituted year-for-year for college study.
Applicants must have three (3) years of experience handling medical billing operations in medical practice. Experience may be replaced with an equivalent mix of applicable education and/or training.
Knowledge of fundamental medical terminology and clinic procedures, commercial insurance, government payment mechanisms, claims evaluation, analysis, and quality control are also essential.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Determine billable insurance claims; correct and submit claims.
- Posts payments and modifications to billing databases; prepare posting batches.
- Review claims before submission to the insurer; evaluate claims that have been adjudicated.
- Using medical billing software, creates, organizes, corrects, updates, and manages accounts on data spreadsheets.
- Ensure accurate and fast payment of claims by obtaining confirmation from suppliers.
- Monitor and track the processing of claims; settles pending claims.
- Assists in the training and quality assurance of less-experienced billing professionals.
- Provides support to patients, insurance companies, and other parties involved.
- Aids in task distribution among colleagues; supports coworkers; monitors and evaluates coworkers’ progress; assists in training new employees.
- Examines accounts with credit amounts to see whether an overpayment has occurred.
- Participates in the process of payer recoupment, offset, payer refund request, and voluntary refund.
- Performs additional responsibilities as necessary or assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Associates degree in business, finance or related field. * Progressively responsible related work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.
- 3 years of experience in a medical office performing medical billing processes. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.
